UK School Holiday Dates and the Academic Year
The school holiday dates in the UK are usually 2 weeks at Easter, 5 to 6 weeks in the Summer, 2 weeks at Christmas and a Half Term break in the middle of each term.
The school year starts in September and runs through to July. It is made up of three school terms.... Autumn Term which runs from the 1st week of September to 3rd week in December; Spring Term which runs from 1st or 2nd week of January to Easter and the Summer Term which normally begins two weeks after Easter until the end of July.
Private schools will normally have longer school holidays.
In addition to the UK School Holidays, teachers in state schools are required to undertake 5 inset days. Here at school holiday dates, we list the dates of each school holiday and half term together with a link to the school holiday dates page of each council and a link to each school website. Please search for your school to check their inset days.
Please remember to keep these dates in mind when you are planning your school holidays and booking children's activities.
